After you arriveRenew through UDI at least three months before expiry.

How to apply, step by step

  1. 1
    Open the Norwegian account early

The funds have to be sitting there before the permit is granted — this is the step that delays people.

  2. 2
    Hit the December deadline

August start, with non-EU deadlines usually closing on 1 December.

  3. 3
    Meet the English bar

    IELTS 6.5.

  4. 4
    Plan the work visa now

Student years do not count toward permanent residence, so the post-study job matters more here than elsewhere.
