    Take out medical insurance

    Minimum €30,000 of cover is a visa requirement.

    Target the October intake

    Deadlines fall in July and August. Larger universities also run a February intake.

    Meet the English bar

    IELTS 6.0 is the usual requirement.

    File for residence immediately

    Do not wait for the visa to near expiry — the Temporary Residence Card takes 8–12 months to process.

What to know before you apply
